Julie Kruger is a DJ  based in Denver, CO with a passion for curating vibrant sets for an epic dance journey.  

Music and dance have been part of her life since childhood.  As a girl, she would record America’s Top 40 every Sunday and then listen, analyze and dance to these songs all week. She learned about house music while in South Africa in the late 90s. 

“My first rave featured a DJ from the UK named Carl Cox.  I had no idea who he was at the time, but the excitement was real. I could feel the bass move from my feet through my body and into my soul.  It was an awakening, as if all the music and dance I loved to this point had prepared me for this. The way Carl blended one song into the next transfixed me. He opened my mind to another art form.”

Julie started to go to one of the best dance clubs in Johannesburg called “ESP” where she soon became a weekend regular.  The DJs, the music, and the people were glorious.  

“I grew up in a very religious family. My dad was a minister. I saw how people worshiped in church with such commitment. I never really got that kind of ‘church.’  But, at this club, I found DJs who loved to create this musical sensation. I finally found my church.“

Julie believes that the connection of music and dance can be liberating. She is always trying to stretch her boundaries with evolving sets that are fresh and energetic.
